Tricare Credentialing

We deeply value our active military members, who are the primary beneficiaries of Tricare insurance.
Healthcare providers interested in joining the Tricare network and securing an In-Network contract
should follow these guidelines

Tricare is broken into two different regions, East and West.

Tricare Credentialing

Tricare East

The East Region is overseen by Humana Military, and their website is www.tricare-east.com. Healthcare providers must first become Tricare Certified, which initially lists them as out-of-network while linking them to their chosen business. This certification process typically takes around 30 days. After certification is approved, providers can submit an online request for an In-Network contract, which may take up to 120 days to process. Providers should note that Tricare East has recently restricted In-Network contract requests to specific provider types, including autism, psychiatry, behavioral health, doula, and lactation networks.

Tricare West

The West Region is managed by Health Net Federal Services, with its website at www.tricare-west.com. Providers should first contact Tricare West at 844-866-9378 to check whether the network is open or closed in their area. If the network is open, a representative will email the provider a contract packet and agreement to sign and return via fax for processing. The contracting process may then take up to 120 days.

Providers navigating the credentialing process with Tricare will find it significantly more straightforward by adhering to these simple guidelines. These guidelines are designed to streamline the process, ensuring that providers understand each step and meet all requirements efficiently. By following these steps carefully, providers can avoid common pitfalls, expedite their credentialing, and ultimately join the Tricare network with greater ease.
